ALL-IN: For the 12th consecutive year, every member of the senior class at Southland College Prep has been accepted to college. The Class of 2025 has received $50 million and counting in merit and need-based scholarships to a variety of top-ranked U.S. colleges and universities.

The class was honored in a surprise ceremony on Friday, May 9th, where each senior was commended by Southland CEO, Dr. Blondean Y. Davis. Students were asked to step forward and place a sticker on a giant U.S. map to signify where they will attend college this fall.
Several of the top 50 national universities and liberal arts colleges that the Class of 2025 has been accepted to include: Harvard University, Yale, Brown, Cornell, Northwestern University, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, among many others.
Three Southland seniors—Kehinde Sowemimo, Khaliah Muhammad, and Mofoluwake Arogundade—were accepted to five Ivy League schools: Brown, Cornell, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale.
The Kwarteng sisters—Sandra, Lisa, Amy, and Esther—have established a foundation in honor of their father. The Alex Kwarteng Foundation’s inaugural award of $10,000 in scholarships was granted between four Southland seniors: Kehinde Sowemimo, Itohan Salami, Terri Mensah, and Dhayra Gomez. The Kwarteng sisters—who work in the healthcare field—were joined by their family to present the scholarships during Friday’s ceremony. Amy and Esther, the youngest of the Kwarteng sisters, are both graduates of Southland.

Amy, the valedictorian of Southland’s Class of 2015, earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Yale University. She is now a fourth-year medical student at the University of Michigan and has recently matched into a psychiatry residency program at UCLA. Esther, a 2016 Southland graduate, earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University and is currently a rising third-year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine.
We are grateful that our Southland alumni choose to pay it forward and impact the lives of our students.
Congratulations, seniors! We are #SouthlandProud of your accomplishments! The Southland Family is excited about your bright future ahead!
